Beautiful Seattle #1

Hallo meine Schönen,

ich habe ein Wochenende im wundervollen Seattle verbracht und habe natürlich meine Kamera immer dabei gehabt, um viele schöne Fotos und Momente für euch einzufangen. Seattle ist nur knapp 2 1/2 Stunden mit der Fähre von Victoria entfernt, perfekt für einen Wochenendtrip. Wir haben im Green Tortoise Hostel geschlafen, allerdings nicht wie erwartet im 4-Bett-Zimmer sondern im 8-Bett-Zimmer – die Gute hatte nämlich alle 4-Bett-Zimmer schon vergeben. Aber man gewöhnt ja schließlich sich an alles und im Endeffekt war es vollkommen okay. Wie sich nämlich am Ende jeden Tages herausstellte, sind wir immer zwischen 20 und 25 Kilometer gelaufen – ja, wir haben das beste aus unserer Zeit gemacht. Die Location des Hostels hätte nicht besser sein können: es liegt direkt am Pike Place Market, ein Markt mit tausend Facetten. Dort gibt es Fisch, Obst, Gemüse, Gebäck, Selfmade Products, überall sind kleine Buden, die Essen verkaufen, Postkarten, Souvenirläden und direkt gegenüber ist das erste Starbucks, das überhaupt eröffnet wurde. Jeden Tag ist die Schlange riesig, nur um sich einen Kaffee zu holen. Vom Markt hat man einen wunderschönen Blick auf die Waterfront. Dort sieht man Berge (die Olympic Mountains), Fähren (für alle Grey’s Anatomy Fans: Ja, DIE Fähren) und natürlich das Seattle Wheel. Ich musste by the way keins meiner Bilder bearbeiten, weil das gar nicht nötig ist. Jedes Foto ist für sich einzigartig schön geworden, was einfach an dem schönen Sonnenschein-Wetter gelegen hat, einfach himmlisch. Am Hafen bei Ivar’s (falls ihr jemals in Seattle seid, geht dort essen. Wird sogar von „Munchies“ aus dem Vice Magazin empfohlen!) haben wir dann Fish & Chips gegessen – sooo lecker. Ich war ja vorher nie so die Fischesserin. Was heißt nie so, ich hab nie Fisch gegessen. Hier habe ich aber schon einiges ausprobiert und Fish & Chips gehört mittlerweile zu meinen Favorites. Vielleicht liegt es auch daran, dass Victoria und Seattle sogenannte Hafenstädte sind, die bekannt für ihren guten Fisch sind. Wir waren übrigens am Black Friday in Seattle und ich weiß nur von Videos, wie es da so zugeht: Menschen prügeln sich, campen teilweise vor den Geschäften und… muss ich eigentlich noch mehr sagen? Jedenfalls scheint das in Seattle nicht ganz so krass zu sein, es gab zwar sehr viele Angebote und es war auch viel los, aber ich hab jetzt niemanden vor Geschäften campen oder sich wegen eines Angebots prügeln sehen. War also alles ganz normal. Wir haben unseren Fokus aber eben nicht aufs shoppen gelegt, sondern mehr darauf, so viel wie möglich von dieser schönen Stadt zu sehen und darüber bin ich total happy.

Hi my beauties,

I spent a weekend in Seattle and of course I had my camera with me all the time to capture all the moments for you. We slept in the Green Tortoise hostel but instead of getting the 4-bed dorm we booked, we had to sleep in a 8-bed dorm because 4-bed dorms were overbooked. But you get used to everything and in the end it was totally fine. We walked between 20 and 25 kilometres everyday – we made the best of every day. The location of the hostel was perfect because it was in front of the Pike Place Market, a market with so much great stuff. There are fruits, vegetables, fish, pastry, selfmade products, booths where you can buy food, postcards, souvenirs and right across the street you can find the first Starbucks, which was opened. Everyday we passed by there was a huge line just to grab a coffee. The view is amazing from the market, you can see the waterfront with mountains, ferries and the Seattle Wheel. By the way: I didn’t have to edit my photos because the light was perfect. We had the most beautiful sunshine-weather. We had Fish & Chips at Ivar’s at the harbour (for those of you who are or plan to go to Seattle: it’s totally worth a visit. In fact “Munchies” from the Vice magazine recommended it, too!). It was soo good. I have never been a fish-eater. In fact I never ate fish. But since my study abroad started I tried a lot and now I like it. Especially Fish & Chips became one of my favourites. Maybe it’s because Seattle and Victoria are cities that are famous for their harbours and they provide a great range of fish. We went to Seattle at Black Friday, which I just knew because of some videos: people fought because of offers, camped in front of shops and… do I have to say more? But that was not the case. It was crowded and there were many great offers but I neither saw people fighting nor camping in front of shops – so it was totally fine and we could go through every shop we wanted calmly. But we didn’t put our focus on shopping. And I loved it. We saw so much of this beautiful city, I’m very happy about that.
